King Abdullah II of Jordan welcomed Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, at the Jordanian Royal Court.
A statement of the royal court said the meeting, which was held in the Jordanian city of Aqaba on the Red Sea, tackled ways of developing fraternal relations among the brotherly countries. The meeting was also attended by Jordan’s Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Minister of State and Cabinet Member in Saudi Arabia Prince Turki bin Muhammad bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, and Special Affairs Adviser at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs in the UAE Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
It is part of an initiative called Aqaba Meetings that was started in 2015 by King Abdullah II as a means of coordinating security and military cooperation and exchanging insights and information between various regional and international parties that are engaged in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
